Jay Curtis - Principal Meeteetse School
A warm hello to all of you from your new Principal at Meeteetse Schools, Jay Curtis. I can tell you it is absolutely fantastic to be back home in Wyoming! I hope you all have had a refreshing summer! As the start of the new school year fast approaches, I want you to know that I am looking forward to working as your Principal. Hopefully, the year ahead will be exciting, rewarding and filled with good experiences for us all. The importance of the time spent in school can not be overstated. They can be fun, exciting and alive for you as you continue to grow and develop. Enjoy the days ahead!
Our first day of school is August 18th. A new school year is always exciting. Our focus will be on providing each student with new challenges that will result in a rewarding school experience. Academic emphasis on the core content areas of reading, language arts, science, social studies, and math will remain a priority as well as providing a learning program that builds on each year to reach local and state standards. Instruction in the fine arts, foreign language, technology, career technical education, and physical education complete our program providing each student with the opportunity to develop areas of interest and skill.
One way to get the most out of your school experience is through your involvement in the everyday life of the school. Your participation in any of the wide range of activities offered will add to your overall development. You will enjoy the days more. You will have more fun. Your involvement will also help to make Meeteetse Schools a better and more vibrant and flourishing place. I encourage your involvement so we can grow together.
Interaction with your teachers and classmates is an important dimension of the learning process. The entire staff strongly believes that regular attendance in class is an essential component for true learning to take place for you. We will endeavor to foster your attendance so you can maximize your learning opportunities and your educational growth. Consistent class attendance is the priority advocated in our policy. Notification of absences will now occur at intervals of absences at 5 and 8 days. The purpose is to increase communication and awareness about the importance of classroom attendance to the learning process. The policy is included in our informational summer mailing and student handbook.
We remind you that the entire staff is available to help you with your concerns or questions. Please do not hesitate to call or come in. We would ask that you carefully review and read all publications and notices that you receive from the school. Most procedures and technical questions are answered in the Student Handbook. However, I am more than happy to answer any and all questions. Mine, is an open door policy always.
Meeteetse Schools heritage is one of excellence. I look forward to being a part of this great tradition. I hope this year will cultivate in you the drive to succeed in and out of the classroom as lifelong learners.
Take PRIDE in your school. Here's to a great year!
Sincerely,
Jay Curtis Principal
